Just when you think you've heard it all, TEE-M turns up to prove that there really is such a thing as a new voice in pop music. Tariq Mirza is above all else, unique. He grew up in Karachi, Pakistan listening to the late night street musicians outside and fell in love with the Beatles, and somehow ended up seamlessly transplanting his heritage into LA's music scene.
--ERICA PRINCE, Performer Mag, San Francisco
I listened to your album whilst driving down the motorway into the countryside a few nights back. And I listened to it again yesterday morning when the sun was bright and London was hot and sweaty!!
And...I made the same conclusion! It's a GREAT ROCK N ROLL Album. Melodies that grab you, shake you and then caress you.
Very strong songs. Excellent production and playing! I particularly enjoyed the more psychedelic and Sub-Continent influenced. But ALL good. Take a bow!!
--ANDREW T. MACKAY, Bombay Dub Orchestra, London, Mumbai.
TEE-M I got ur CD :) yeah man, hell yeah...New Orleans and Yahrah! are the best tracks! Ur the best rock n roll Pakistani artist I know :) u remind me of the days (though I wasn't there at the time, I'm only 14:) I wish I was born when we had the Beatles, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin n all.
AH MAN, I AM UR NUMBER ONE FAN...
--ATHER ZAMAN, Future Rock Star From Islamabad, Pakistan
It was one of those lethargic 'drag-your-feet' weekdays where the days ahead (before the onset of the weekend) felt long and lacklustre. But tuning in to a popular radio station whose morning slot was being radio jockeyed by Sohail Hashmi (at the time) and something made me smile.
"Aao Aao Aao Sooji Ka Halwa Khao!" sang TEE-M who was also being interviewed by the host. The feel-good little pop number seemed to jump out of the air-waves and do a jig amidst a 'wholesome' acoustic sound. And as soon as the number came to an end, the day ahead didn't feel as dreary somehow.
--SONYA REHMAN, The News, Lahore, Pakistan
His breakthrough hit is the catchy, quirky Minglish number Aao, Aao, Aao (suji ka halwa) a remix. With an intriguing intro leading to the electronic beat and then the infectious chorus, this track is definitely worth checking out. A very slick mixing of Eastern and Western styles and sounds. Aao Aao Aao which means Come, Come, Come is truly current and quintessentially global.
--T.U.DAWOOD, DAWN, THE REVIEW, Pakistan
Chris Jean: Director "Disappeared" video...
I'm a huge fan of TEE-M's "EARTHIOTIC" record. I like to think of the album as one of the
very first "global" records, both in style and theme. The songs reflect light and colors from
TEE-M's journeys in Pakistan and here in the States, but in a way that highlights connections
and shared values as human beings as opposed to differences between us coded a priory by cultures.
This is what I think TEE-M means by "earthiotic," since surely, at some level, we all share something in common as living, breathing creatures of the earth, despite what borders, cultures, languages or religions might insist to the contrary. On a stylish level, the record is a fusion of the eastern and western minds, written by a man who was once a young boy listening to the Beatles on short-wave radio in Pakistan, dreaming of making music of his own. Or as I like to say, TEE-M is the George Harrison of Pakistan. It's hard to pick favorite songs from an album I respect from start to finish, but obviously "Disappeared" speaks to me, as well as "New Orleans," "Last Night," "Quiet Night By The Ocean" and the irrepressible "Aao Aao Aao." "Earthiotic" is a great achievement. Do yourself a favor and have a listen.
Mike Stark: Author, Black Sabbath: An Oral History...WPMD "Rock 50"
EARTHIOTIC again is a great representation of TEE-M's many influences, drawing from his experiences and from his great love for pop and rock music. I think the music and the album's title probably reflects TEE-M's hope that music has a way of bringing the world together.
Just wanted to drop a note as to how much I'm enjoying your cd. There's so much I like about it which I'll leave for a conversation sometime. Let me just say it's a great CD (I know you know that) and you're at the top of the heap of today's artists as far as I'm concerned.
--BARRY KEENAN, Musician, Artist, Los Angeles, CA
There wasn't a single song that didn't have something different and refreshing in it. The music, songwriting and composition are wonderful. 'Aao Aao Aao' is also my son's favorite song and he sang it for days after the first time he saw the video on TV. 'And I Was Gone,' 'Hallucination' and 'New Orleans' are great songs also.
--UMAR S, Northern California, USA
Got your cd today. I like every song on it. I like that song "Aao Aao Aao" even though I can't understand a lot of the words. Upon first listen my favorite songs are "Man Without A Country" and "Hallucination." Man w/o A Country is my hands down favorite. I would envision myself doing a cover of that song. If it was up to me your music would be a huge hit.
--WOODY WOODHAM, Musician, Artist, Prescott, Arizona
I have passed the Halwa to my whole khandan (cousins, aunts n uncles etc)...I've done this song at my cousins wedding and they all loved it. You rock Tariq Bro, seriously if I can get through my American types cousins with ur song, it must be magical...try coming to Toronto man I wanna c u at concert and loved ur new Disappeared song, amazing.
--DRUMEX, Toronto, Canada
MAN WITHOUT A COUNTRY...This single from Pakistan expatriate TEE-M (Tariq Mirza) is the true chronicle of a man who has been stranded at the Paris airport for 15 years. Currently, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are working on a movie TERMINAL, about Mehran Nasseri, the man at the airport. TEE-M's upbringing is evident in the lyrics with lines like "some days are like hell, like playing on a sticky wicket." Only a cricket fan would toss in a reference like that. The song is nice, acoustic based, first person ballad that tells of the daily life at the Charles de Gaulle airport. Hopefully, Spielberg will get a copy of the tune and toss TEE-M a few bucks for the rights.
--DUG, Skratch Magazine, Tustin, CA
TEE-M Takes on "Man Without a Country"
at Genghis Cohen....By Laura Phillips, Rock City News...Los Angeles
He sang a poetically written song about a spiritual leader in his native Pakistan along with remembering an Iranian born man that doesn't have a country. TEE-M has a style very similiar to Coldplay. While Coldplay has their famous "Politik" song from "A Rush of Blood to the Head" album to emphasize fair trade practices being essential for third world countries to survive and escape the poverty trap, TEE-M has his "Man Without a Country" song that he wrote and recorded in 1995 to make us aware of a true story about a man stuck at Paris Airport since 1989 after he lost his passport whose tale will break your heart.
The hardship life of Merhan Karimi Nasseri aka Alfred torn apart by politics is a June 2004 Steven Spielberg release that's caught major buzz staring Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. TEE-M's masterpiece almost made the Terminal movie, but by the time the Music Editor finally heard the cut, filming had already reached completion and unfortunately this much anticipated film everyone is talking about suffers greatly for this loss...
For the full review please pick up your copy of Rock City News Vol. 22, No.10.
'Man Without A Country' is a poignant song, especially once you know what drove Tariq to pen it down. The song gets full stars for being uniquely themed and emotive.
--SONYA REHMAN, The News, Lahore, Pakistan
"Hallucination" a sweet, droll, sexy, slow-rolling number, is among the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
--CHAD GOODELL, Music Connection Mag, Los Angeles
"Hallucination," a song packed with trance like instrumentation distantly reminiscent of Pink Floyd. Living up to its name, the song also manages to sound like something John Lennon cooked up after a long night with Yoko.
--ERICA PRINCE, Performer Mag, San Francisco
TEE-M conjures an aural "Hallucination."
--FALLING JAMES, LA Weekly
A CD I highly recommend...impressive stuff, "Better Get Out Of Here" is a diamond.
--PAR WINBERG, Melodic.Net, Sweden
"Watch Your Step" has a sort of folksy intensity provided by TEE-M's emotive but unique vocal work. Fresh and inventive in a laid back way.
--MUSIC MORSELS, Georgia, USA
So jump into your daddy's beat-up old Mustang, roll down the windows and take a drive down a wide highway, because 'And I Was Gone' will make you want to do just that. The track has this vintage touch to it, just as 'Disappeared.'
--SONYA REHMAN, The News, Lahore, Pakistan
It is refreshing to see TEE-M exploring such impassioned material as "Life." "New Orleans" and "Man Without A Country." All three are outstanding in theme and rendition with the last mentioned depicting the plight of Mehran Karimi Nasseri, a man stuck in Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport for over 15 years. They are not only fresh, unhackneyed accounts of real life subjects but are recorded in warm, clear sound.
--RISHAD MAHMOOD, DawnReview, Karachi, Pakistan
"New Orleans" This is a very fast and groovy song. The song is dedicated to New Orleans. Talking to the Sunday Plus about this particular song TEE-M said "I have travelled quite a bit in America and New Orleans has been the most inspiring city (pre-Katrina). I was just so touched by the genuine spirit of the people there, especially the music and the dancing in French Quarter."
--ALI ASAD SULEHRIA, The Nation Sunday Plus Magazine, Pakistan
Your songwriting conveys a great deal of emotion. You are a truly inspired artist.
--BOBBY BORG, Author: A Musician's Handbook, Professor UCLA, Los Angeles
Blending Brit-based harmonies with Pakistani influences, his four-song sampler, You Go On, is a melodic collection of songs from a truly original artist. "Aao Aao Aao" means "Come Come Come" in his native language, Urdu.
--DAN KIMPEL, Music Connection Mag, Los Angeles, CA
Would you ever think there'd be a pop balladeer hailing from Pakistan? Well in a musical globe where anything is possible comes TEE-M, a man armed with a dream, an acoustic guitar and four tracks of pop-rock. TEE-M mixes rich harmonies with compelling songwriting much like the Fab Four did. In a world where a lot of the folksy stuff is very whiny and interpersonal, TEE-M turns his folkrock into tunes of hope, love, peace and harmony in a way that's a hell of a lot more honest and forthright than anything Jewel has ever done.
--MIKE SOS, Skratch Mag, Tustin, CA, USA
Fantastic version of one of my all time favorite Beatle songs as well. Great job. As a drummer I love the pace and the choice of beat--great flow and groove. Love the layers of harmonies in the chorus and as usual your vocals are top notch.
--LARRY LEVY, The Histrioniks, Baltimore, MD
On TEE-M's version of Beatles "Don't Bother Me" Single released in Feb '02.
A tribute to George Harrison, shortly after he passed away in 2001. Video By Hussain Shafiq 2009.
'DBM' was the first song written by George Harrison that appeared on a Beatle album..."With The Beatles."
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ecuzcnKmiWw
Loved your version of "Don't Bother Me."
Very cool take on a classic!! Great job!!!
--RICH, Westchester, New York
Really enjoyed it (DBM). Wow! you are something else...hope your music (and nice voice) reaches the ears of many...
--SHEHLA, Bloomington, Minnessota
I just woke up mid-day and the first thing I hear is 'DBM'...it's way beyond awesome...ur simply amazing.
--RABIA, Rawalpindi, Pakistan
Wow, a real Beatle fan. For once it's not 'Let It be' or 'Hey Jude.'
--JOHN M, USA
Dammit just can't get over the arrangement. Quite simply the best cover of any
Beatles number. Ever.
--AZEEZ, Pakistan n Australia
What a great cover, TEE-M!!!! Yes, I believe George would truly be pleased.
--KEN, Chicago, IL
The standout, far and away, is the title track "You Go On." Tariq's accent adds a beautiful layer to this lilting tune, sweet as a lullaby in contrast to the jarring quality of "Aao Aao Aao." A simple melody, earnest vocals, quietly driving guitar and a familiar beat that comes in at the right moment all combine to offer just what the lyrics promise..."and take with you a song to sing along."
--ERICA PRINCE, Performer Mag, San Francisco, CA
The introspective melancholy of "You Go On" is moving and bittersweet...wonderful craft, a GREAT SONG. And further more...a great song realized to it's potential through high-quality and thoughtful production.
--RUSSELL MAMORSKY, Musician, Florida, USA
TEE-M's music encompasses an innocent, albiet enthusiastic feel that was reminscent of the 60's grooving rock - 'New Orleans' and 'Spunk' clearly fit the definition bill.
In 'Spunk' , TEE-M sings: "She's got spunk/She's got spunk/She's got spunkkkkk/She's a funky chick", making for a fun Indie song that makes one want to don a pair of three-inch block heels, bell bottoms to get down and groovy with it.
--SONYA REHMAN, The News, Lahore, Pakistan
The sixth track of the album is 'Spunk.' This is the best track of the album. Its again about a real life character which TEE-M met at a wedding. Sitar is the surprise element in the song which is though a rarity in current music yet very pleasing to listen to.
--ALI ASAD SULEHRIA, "The Nation Sunday Plus" Magazine, Pakistan
I just finished listening to EARTHIOTIC...what a great album, I just loved it! Your songwriting skills are terrific as is the music and your vocals. I like "Man Without A Country," "You Go On," "Disappeared," "Better Get Out Of Here," and "Quiet Night By The Ocean." Infact all your tracks are superb.
--MURAD K, Karachi, Pakistan
F*ckaduck a true rocking talent, brilliant stuff. Am spreading this on facebook. I'll intro you around some rock cogniscenti.
--AZEEZ, Karachi, Pakistan, Australia
The sound is fresh and the CD itself contains variety of songs that are catchy and funky. 'Aao Aao Aao' will give you a taste of Pakistan and what it means to be in Karachi. All in all the songs are soothing to hear and are break from the norm. Last number 'Quiet Night By The Ocean' is just lovely and will leave you wanting for more.
--ERUM n BABAR, Karachi, Pakistan
The last track of the album is 'Quiet Night By The Ocean' which is an instrumental. This gives a very soothing end to the album. It's no doubt a soul stirring track that makes you feel peaceful.
--ALI ASAD SULEHRIA, The Nation Sunday Plus Magazine, Pakistan
The thing about "New Orleans" and "Aao Aao Aao" and some of his other songs is that they are so catchy...They get embedded in your mind. I guess that's what makes a great pop song.
--MIKE STARK, Author: Black Sabbath: An Oral History, Bill Ward Show wpmd.org, Los Angeles
Hey! the songs are seriously more than great, even the voice is awesome and guitaring as well.
--SALIK, Karachi, Pakistan
I have been listening to your music on the internet and watching some of your videos on youtube. I must say I love your music. There are so many bands from Pakistan but your music is refreshing.
--DJ ARPANA SANJAY, KBCS Radio, Bellevue (Seattle) USA
I really love your music, sounds great...so unique yet fun! Made my friends hear ur music...aao aao aao n they all couldn't believe what they were hearing.
--MUAZ RAJA, Musician, Artist, Lahore, Pakistan
"Last Night" is again a very groovy track. This song sounds like The Beatles. The song is a mixture of love and lament as he sings about how he lost the prettiest girl last night.
--ALI ASAD SULEHRIA, The Nation Sunday Plus Magazine, Pakistan
"Last Night" seemed to move the crowd, warming them up for the rest of the songs in the bag.
--TAHIR YAHYA, DAWN IMAGES, Pakistan

--SARAH M, Karachi, Pakistan
Tariq Mirza is a music enthusiast whose well-crafted pop style has not betrayed his love for the rock 'n' roll genre. This is further validated by the fact that his music has been given acclaim by rock music journalists abroad. What's more, his debut album, EARTHIOTIC...songsfromaoneroompalace, is now complete, giving listeners 17 more reasons to like him.
--TAHIR YAHYA, DAWN IMAGES, Pakistan
Rock n Roll is the name of TEE-M's game and he has come out on top. It ain't exactly "old time rock n roll" and it ain't no "rock n roll suicide." This is music that can bring people together. Funny how music does that more so than those bilateral peace talks you hear so much about.
--BRIAN LUSH, Rockwired, Los Angeles
I've just listened to your CD. I'm very happy I did.

And there you have it, song number seven smiles out at you from its jiggly-little font. It's called 'Aao Aao Aao'. Need I say more? The song will make one's heart-cheeks grin from ear to ear as it really is a winner.
How wonderfully simple a song "Aao Aao Aao' is, and yet it has the ability to make one of any age whatsoever feel nostalgic, happy, warm and fuzzy all at once. Truly like a hot bowl of sooji ka halwa!
--SONYA REHMAN, The NEWS, Pakistan
A rock-pop number, Aao, Aao, Aao has folk roots and synthesiser blendings. Innovative and fun, the single is both tongue-in-cheek and simply clever. Inspired by "his mother's cooking," the song is clearly a tribute to her.
--T.U.DAWOOD, DAWN IMAGES, Pakistan
Hello to the person who wrote and then sang the most different song ever i.e. suji ka halwa!! :)
--SANEEZA, Karachi, Pakistan
In 2009 'Aao Aao Aao' was selected as one of...
"TOP 62 SONGS OF THE LAST 62 YEARS OF PAKISTAN's INDEPENDENCE" by City FM89.
A friend sent me the link to this video and I just love it. How can a song go wrong with doodh malai and sooji ka halwa.

Geoff Tyson: EARTHIOTIC's...co-producer, guitar and beats man...
TEE-M is a perfectionist in the studio. He demands extraordinary performances from
extraordinary musicians. I enjoyed working on his music because it was a challenge and
because he was doing something that no one else in LA had the courage to do - sing a
song in a language other than English. But it wasn't until I saw him live, leading a crowd of
Hollywood socialites in a "Aao, Suji Ka Halwa" sing-along chant that I knew he was one
of a kind! I am happy to hear about his continued successes.
Mike Stark: Author, Black Sabbath: An Oral History, Co-Host "TEE-M's UNsigned Music Show"
"Aao, Aao, Aao" was the first and, to this day, the most popular of all radio
related videos associated with my Youtube account. Of course it's only "radio related"
because of the show I co-host with TEE-M that features UNsigned music. To me, the song
is TEE-M's "Free Bird" or "Stairway To Heaven." He will probably make a lot more records
in his lifetime, but I sense that this song will always have a special place in the hearts of his
fans because it represents him best-as a Pakistani musician with those roots, yet full of
western pop influences.
Gregory Leon: Seen playing guitar on 'Aao' video...plays in TEE-M's band...
I beseeched him to give me a little taste of the songs and TEE-M commenced to sing
(lightly) a couple of them right at the restaurant table. The first one "Paan Kha Kay" was
awesome. I loved it and demanded to hear another immediately. He then started to sing
the next...before the first chorus, was complete, I was hooked and singing along. By the
second chorus, the whole table was singing at full volume, and before long half the
restaurant was enjoying (if not joining in) to the first acappella performance of "Aao Aao Aao!"
It has been the highlight of every TEE-M show (with or without any band) to this day ever since.
To me the song means and symbolizes, reflections of innocence, childhood, family and
cultural pride. And I appreciate the almost Taoist, minimalist purity that is TEE-M's genuine
and precious nature.
Brandon Schott: Indi Artist...Seen playing the harmonium and guitar 'Aao' video...
No matter where we played that song during the recording of the video or during the live
performances since, there is always ALWAYS a beautiful air of celebration to Aao Aao Aao.
Seeing the crowd react and singalong-as we all become a part of the song, well it's an
experience to behold. Come to think of it, TEE-M still hasn't come through on his promise
to one day make me some Suji Ka Halwa...
Kat Parsons: Indi Artist...Kat's dance moves kick off the 'Aao' video...
I enjoyed being a part of it and it seems to be about community and sharing
food literally, and more so, community and the company of one another in the
world we all share.
Meena Makhijani: Plays tablas on EARTHIOTIC's track # 9...Yahrah!
I love suji ka halwa, and it's always a special thing to have it. I love that there is a song
about it now, the first one ever! My mom loves that song too, and says "Yes that's what
mothers do. We want to feed our children!" So I can just imagine how proud TEE-M's
mother would be, it's such a loving tribute to his mother.
I had such a wonderful experience playing tablas on Yahrah! It's always great to be around
TEE-M. His spirit is so warm and sincere. Playing with him is an even bigger treat, as he
is a fantastic and innovative musician. I loved the track and was honored that he wanted
me on it.
I LOVE this video! doodh malai and sooji ka halwa. I dun have words to appreciate this song.

--MOEEN BHATTI, All Things Pakistan, Boston, MA
The lad from Los Angeles has been a popular name in Pakistan with a pure rock 'n roll track 'Aao Aao Aao'. Kicking off with hard slap drum sounds: this funky and humorous track will bring a huge smile on your face with hilarious lyrics "aao aao aao suji ka halwa khao." What is special about this song is that it is immensely amusing, groovy and TEE-M'z swift switching b/w English and Urdu. Top stuff!
--SHAHZEB SHAIKH, MAG The Weekly, Pakistan
Wow...luv'd suji ka halwa very much brought much jalwa.

None of the songs in EARTHIOTIC...are to be miseed. I love "Hallucination" and "Man Without A Country." Sooji ka Halwa of course leads the cult.

--HANNA, Islamabad, Pakistan
I'm relatively new to the TEE-M universe, but I can't stop listening to EARTHIOTIC...The writing is sharp, the musicianship is tasteful and never indulgent, all the while the roots of TEE-M's music and artistry run deep. Of special note is the Middle-Eastern break down at the heart of "Hallucination". The scope of EARTHIOTIC's journey is broad, "Time To Wake Up" could get you running for the car keys first thing in the morning, while "You Go On" is the perfect soundtrack for a quite reflective night at home with a glass of merlot. Simply put, this record is a truly beautiful life-affirming journey from start to finish.
--BRANDON SCHOTT, Artist, Musican, Los Angeles
My views are that the singer should stand beside the greats such as Lennon, Dire Straits and others that have recognized fame. TM is here now and with his music that I have heard so far, my message is America wake up! Recognize this great and make him your household name.

TEE-M, I love that you are always several years ahead of the rest of the world, "Man Without A Country". "New Orleans", "We're Out Of Business."...I'm assuming you also have successfully predicted a Halwa Revolution! Keep up the great work!

Inspired and heart felt, this CD is a collection of 16 pop gems that will stay in your head weeks after the initial listen. Songs like the reflective "DISAPPEARED," joyous "AAO AAO AAO" and the melancholic "MAN WITHOUT A COUNTRY" are the standout tracks, but the remainder of the album ain't exactly filler...a tough feat for a CD with 16 songs. It's a trip!
--DJ LUSH, Rockwired, Los Angeles
This is an artist who is taking courageous step and breaking rules that most people follow.

What Listeners Are Saying about "TEE-M's UNsigned Music Show."
"This show was especially over the top. I think you have captured the pulse of what is hip. Every song was really cool! I really liked that song '100 Rupai' (ZEEST). It just goes to demonstrate that people are basically the same where ever you go. Sure there are different cultures and customs and styles and types of food and all, but the essence of man is the same. If anything can unite us and bridge the gap, music will play a big role!"
--WOODY WOODHAM, Prescott, Arizona
"Great Show! cool idea with the battle of the bands. I liked the way you selected the songs to go against one another. I enjoyed all the music and commentary."
